WHAT IS PUFF SCREEN PRINTING?
Puff screen printing is a variant of traditional screen printing that uses a special ink with expanding additives that, when heat is applied, puffs up slightly and creates a raised effect on the garment. The result is a soft, puffy, 3D design, very striking both visually and to the touch.
How does it work?
-
The design is prepared just like regular screen printing.
-
A puff ink is used (plastisol ink with an expanding additive).
-
After printing the design onto the garment, it’s cured with heat (oven or heat press).
-
The heat causes the ink to expand and create volume.
Key features:
-
Raised, soft, puffy finish.
-
Provides a modern and eye-catching effect.
-
Works best with simple designs, few colors, and bold lines.
-
Commonly used in streetwear, fashion drops, and premium garments.
When is puff screen printing a good option?
-
If you want to add texture without embroidery.
-
If you want a more eye-catching result than flat screen printing.
-
If your design is minimalist or typographic.
Important:
-
Not recommended for very small details or thin lines (they may lose definition as the ink expands).
-
Slightly more expensive than regular screen printing, but the result is more exclusive.
