DTF (Direct To Film) is a textile customization technique that consists of printing a design onto a special film, applying adhesive powder, and then heat-transferring it onto the garment. It’s a very versatile alternative to techniques like screen printing or vinyl.
Digital design: The design is created on a computer.
Printing on film: It’s printed with special inks onto a transparent film.
Applying adhesive powder: A heat-melt adhesive powder is sprinkled over the freshly printed ink.
Curing: The powder is lightly melted with heat to adhere to the design.
Transferring to the garment: The film is placed on the garment and pressed with heat (heat press).
Peeling the film: Once cooled, the film is removed and the design remains on the garment.
Supports vibrant colors and gradients.
Prints on cotton, polyester, or blends without issue.
Doesn’t require screens or plates like screen printing.
Allows for small or even one-off productions without much added cost.
